Medvedev sweeps Russian election

Dmitry Medevedev has been confirmed as Russia's new President after winning the election by a landslide.

Medevedev won 70.23% of the vote and has promised "to continue Putin work".

Former President Vladimir Putin, who was President for eight years, will become the country's Prime Minister and remove himself from the Kremlin.

President Medvedev has prioritised Russia's foreign policy to defend Russian interests and continue the work of ex-Soviet republics.

Votes

The high percentage of votes Medvedev recieved has been questioned. Reports have leaked that workers were forced by their bosses to vote for Medevedev.

The BBC have also stated that inducements were offered to gain voters such as cheap food, free cinema tickets or toys.

However the Kremlin have denied claims of fraud.
